I can`t get over the thought about something
happen in the ward few weeks ago.
The setting was my groupmate and I was
clerking a patient, a seventies old woman
with an epigastric pain.
Groupmate: What`s your complain?
Patient: I have epigastric pain
and I passed dark stool....etc etc etc..
Groupmate: What was your blood pressure
while you admitted?
Patient: .....???
Groupmate again: Do you have leukocyctosis?
Patient again: ....???!~?@#@#???
Groupmate ask again: Do you have anemia??
Patient again .....??!?~!?~!???
I simply classify these as a low class question
particularly to the patient.
If this old lady can answer your question,
she might not need your help anymore.
and of course, Yes!
You may say European are much more educated than
those in Malaysia, simply because they know
what are they suffering, they write down their BP everyday
and they know what medication prescribed to them.
We ask for symptoms, But we look for signs.
It`s different.
Because it is professional.
